Gardening Tips And Advices All Year Round

If you have been thinking of having a natural retaining perimeter built on your garden, one of your best choices would be a boulder rock retaining wall. This is because boulder rock retaining walls offer a great and natural look to any type of landscape design. You can either have your boulder rock walls constructed by a professional or you can have them built yourself. Keep in mind, however, that you should only attempt to construct them yourself if you have the proper equipment and experience necessary to build them. Here are the steps that you can use if you decide to build your boulder rock wall by yourself.

1. You first need to get the materials that you would be using for your boulder rock retaining wall. Most nurseries and landscaping supply stores offer a variety of stones and rocks so you should have an easy time locating places where you can buy your boulder rocks. Some options you have would be stones, limestone, granite and other types of natural stones. As you go through your options, keep in mind that you need to choose those which are of the correct size, to make sure that the wall would look great and have the strength that it needs to retain soil.

2. You should then prepare the location where you would be building the retaining wall. After determining the height that you want your wall to be, you would need to stake out the corners, the length and any other variations that you want your finished wall to have.

3. After preparing the site of the wall, you can then place some landscaping fabric on the dirt wall, with some of it on the ground so that the first row of boulders would have something to sit on.

4. Start by placing the largest boulders on the first row and then the smaller ones on the subsequent rows. Make sure that the boulders are tight against the dirt wall.

5. Lastly, fill in the gaps on your wall with smaller rocks.
