Sweet corn needs a consistant source of water and requires rich soil. Side-dressing with extra nitrogen during the growing season will help produce larger ears. Plant sweet corn after the ground temperature has reached 60 degrees or above. Corn seeds shuld be planted about 1 to 2 inches deep and about 8 inches apart. Thin the growing seeds to about 12 inches apart after seed emergence. Plant the seeds in rows between 2 and 3 feet aprt or in circles with spacings of at least 8 inches apart and 1 foot between circles. Do not plant sweet corn in the same spot several years in a row.
